Election campaigns in India are now days run by professionals. Narendra Modi started it in 2012 Gujarat elections by engaging Prashant Kishor followed by ad Guru Piyush Pandey in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. “Abki Baar Modi Sarkar” became true and Modi came into power with a thumping majority.
In Punjab, there’s anti-incumbency against the sitting Chief Minister Mr. Prakash Singh Badal. Opinion polls suggest comfortable victory for Congress. Still few months to go as the election dates are not yet announced.
It seems Badals are not going to accept their ‘possible defeat” so easily. They are still very much hopeful to come back to their 3rd consecutive term.
As reported by CNN-News18 “The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has roped in Piyush Pandey and his Ogilvy & Mather ad agency to dust up the image of the party and its leadership as they prepare for the state Assembly polls slated early next year”.
Party MP Naresh Gujral told CNN-News18 that “O&M will guide us on how to present facts before the people in the right manner. Biased news reports have to be debunked”.
With these developments, Punjab elections are going to be very interesting.
